ICE ICE Baby: I-9 compliance & updates

It's a COVID world, are you in compliance?

The interim policy that allows for virtual document inspection for the I-9 form ends on January 31st. The provision applies only to employers and workplaces that are operating completely remotely because of the public health crisis.

Learn from the guy who trains the ICE Auditors on how to properly complete a Form I-9, the common mistakes, errors, and issues with electronic I-9 programs.

Join us on January 14th at 6 pm. Scott McCormack National Program Manager for ICE will be our guest speaker. Mr. McCormack will provide updates on the I-9 form and process to ensure your organization is in compliance.

Scott B. McCormack is the Acting Section Chief of the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration & Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, Transnational Organized Crimes I, and Worksite Enforcement Unit and has been a Special Agent with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) since it’s inception in 2003. Prior to the formation of DHS, I was employed by the Immigration & Naturalization Service (INS) as an Immigration Inspector at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, New York in 1991. During the eleven years that followed, he was involved in criminal prosecutions, visa fraud, marriage fraud, and employment fraud cases. He has also worked with the United Nations General Assembly, and has been an investigator for the INS attorneys working the Immigration Court and also participated in the rescue/recovery efforts following 9/11. As a Special Agent, he has prosecuted cases varying from harboring illegal aliens, employing illegal aliens, re-entry after deportation, alien smuggling, money laundering, child pornography, employer sanctions, marriage fraud, and ITAR weapons export violations. He has been the case agent on numerous high profile worksite enforcement cases and was part of the arrest team for almost every major worksite enforcement action taken by ICE throughout the country. He is considered an expert by his peers on United States Immigration entry/exit procedures and travel documents and has testified in both federal and state court as such.

In 2016, also worked as a National Program Manager (PM) at the Employer Compliance Inspection Center (ECIC) in DC. The ECIC is a section of ICE HQ’s Worksite Enforcement Unit which consists of a cadre of specially trained agents and auditors who conduct I-9 inspections for all the ICE field offices. As a PM, he oversees all the ICE Auditors, the Audit process, and Worksite policy. He is an instructor for both the Auditor Training  and the Advanced Worksite Enforcement Training conducted at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA.
