SHRM Savannah Advocates on Capitol Hill

On April 1, 2025, delegates from SHRM Georgia chapters—including SHRM Savannah—traveled to Washington, D.C., to advocate for policies that support work, workers, and the workplace. The SHRM Georgia's 2025 DC Fly-In advocated for 'Policy not Politics.' The delegation was led by SHRM Savannah member and Government Affairs Director, Wendy Forgacs, who helped facilitate meetings with Georgia representatives on key workplace issues.

       

SHRM Savannah Partners with the Department of Education

Established in response to the Georgia Department of Education’s (GDoE) goal of enhancing workforce readiness among secondary school students, this initiative was created to support the achievement of the department’s strategic objectives. Through SHRM Savannah and the Department of Education's partnership, the focus was on advancing high-quality business education programs that align with the evolving needs of Georgia’s businesses and industries.

On April 15, 2025, SHRM Savannah was a pivotal part of the initial certification and re-certification of high schools that met rigorous industry standards in business and computer science programs—ultimately contributing to stronger talent pipelines and better workplaces for a better world!

SHRM Savannah Partners with RISE

(Opportunity Youth)

Established in response to the Savannah Joint Development Authority Workforce Study (2023), with a goal to strengthen talent-to-workforce alignment and to enhance workforce readiness among students in CTAE programs in Savannah, Chatham and surrounding counties.

On May 28, 2025, SHRM Savannah was a pivotal part of the RISE up event facilitated in three (3) sessions, Student Workforce Readiness Workshop and Post Event Individual Coaching, Employer Training, and Student/ Employer Match - Job Fair.

SHRM Savannah chapter meetings are designed to provide HR professionals, with opportunities for professional development, networking, and knowledge-sharing. These meetings offer relevant and timely education on HR trends, legal updates, and best practices, while fostering collaboration among members. The goal is to support the growth and effectiveness of HR professionals, strengthen the local HR community, and align with SHRM’s broader mission of advancing the HR profession and enhancing the workplace.
