Volunteer Opportunity for Core Leadership Areas
The Core Leadership Areas (CLA) are key to the success of SHRM Savannah. The SHRM Savannah Board works collaboratively with all CLA Chairs to implement successful programming and events and community outreach.
The CLA include Workforce Readiness, College Relations, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Government Affairs, Membership, SHRM Foundation, and SHRM Certification.
CLA position descriptions
College Relations Committee: actively works in the community with local colleges and universities to promote scholarships, internships, and serve as a mentor to college students interested in HR
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee: spearheads efforts to diversify the chapter's membership/leadership and to publicize successful diversity programs in the local community.
Government/Legislative Affairs Committee: provides members the ability to monitor and evaluate on a continuing basis pending legislative, regulatory and legal action at the federal, state, and local level that may have an impact on the management of human resources.
Membership Committee: reviews all applications for membership and making recommendations to the Vice President of Membership. The membership committee recruits and communicates with new members; recommends and implements activities designed to attract and retain members.
Professional Certification Committee: ensures that its members have the opportunity and resources available to receive SHRM certification. We are looking for volunteers to increase the number of chapter members who are certified as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP by the SHRM Certification Commission and encourage members to become certified and recertified. The Professional Certification Chair is required to be a dual member of SHRM and the local chapter.
Program Committee: provides quality programs which are responsive to the needs of the members; plans and arranges for speakers at monthly meetings. Collaborates with the Professional Certification Committee to ensure programs meet the needs of the chapter. Encourage local businesses to sponsor meetings.
SHRM Foundation Committee: support activities of SHRM through our contributions to the SHRM Foundation. All members are asked to contribute at any level they deem appropriate to support scholarships, memberships, registrations, and other activities of the SHRM Foundation.
Workforce Readiness Committee: carries out the yearly initiatives as identified by SHRM National and the SHRM Foundation. Past Workforce Readiness Initiatives have included a virtual career fair, employment workshop, panel discussions on the Aging Workforce, Ex-offenders and Hiring Veterans.
